It was a full-circle moment for Kyla Pratt as she stepped out with her daughters to celebrate Penny Proud making her official debut at Disneyland. The actress, who famously voiced Penny in The Proud Family, attended the special debut during Disneyland After Dark: Disney Channel Nite on April 12, 2026.
Pratt later shared how emotional the moment was for her, writing that seeing Penny Proud recognized in such a major way at Disneyland felt unreal. She gave flowers to Bruce W. Smith too, saying it was heartwarming to watch him witness a character he created being celebrated on that level.
The Proud Family originally premiered in 2001 and became a fan favorite before ending in 2005. The show later returned in 2022 as The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, bringing back many of the original cast membersโincluding Pratt.
Fans visiting Disneyland can still catch Penny Proud in the park alongside other Disney Channel favorites, though it’s still unclear whether her appearance will become a permanent part of the resort.
For fans who grew up watching Penny Proud, this moment was definitely one for the books.
