Lil Wayne Criticized for Two Hour Concert Delay

Lil Wayne left New Hampshire fans fuming after reportedly taking the stage more than two hours late and performing for only about an hour. The 43-year-old rapper was scheduled to begin his set at BankNH Pavilion in Gilford at 8:50 p.m. on July 3, according to the venue. Concertgoers said Wayne did not appear until around 11 p.m., with some leaving before they ever saw him perform. It’s a disappointing moment for fans who’ve invested their time and money into the experience.

This wasn’t an isolated incident either. Days before, Lil Wayne missed the June 30 opening date of his 20 Years of Carter Classics tour in Bangor, Maine. Opener 2 Chainz performed, but fans were told around 11 p.m. that the headliner wouldn’t show. He later said he became “too sick to safely perform” and apologized to ticket holders. The Maine concert has been rescheduled for July 28, with original tickets still valid. The New Orleans rapper is next scheduled to perform with 2 Chainz at Casey’s Center in Des Moines on July 16.

Afterward, the Grammy winner offered a different account of the New Hampshire night in a social media video. “New Hampshire! It’s your man-ster,” he said, his voice noticeably hoarse. “I told you, man, that s–t was awesome. You can see I don’t even have no voice. You all took my voice. You all took everything, man.”

The backlash hit social media hard. Fans had plenty to say about the repeated delays and no-shows. This comes on the heels of ongoing conversation about Wayne’s career trajectory and the decisions made around major opportunities. Many longtime supporters expressed frustration, noting this wasn’t the first time they’d experienced lengthy waits at his shows. Some questioned whether the repeated issues reflected a broader pattern that needed addressing.
