Mary J. Blige is returning to Lifetime with a new original film titled Mary J. Blige’s Family Affair, set to premiere on January 25. Inspired by her iconic 2001 hit “Family Affair,” the movie is part of Lifetime’s “Voices of a Lifetime” programming slate, alongside biopics of music legends Lisa Lisa and Gloria Gaynor.

Family Affair follows Kendra and Ben, played by Ajiona Alexus and Da’Vinchi, as they navigate the challenges of building a life together in a new town. Both Alexus and Da’Vinchi are also executive producers, alongside Blige herself. The film marks the third installment in Blige’s Lifetime film franchise, following Mary J. Blige’s Real Love (2023) and Mary J. Blige’s Strength of a Woman (2024).
