Nicki Minaj Ex-Assistant Seeks Private Texts in Battery Case

Nicki Minaj‘s former assistant is pushing the rapper to hand over her private text messages as part of their ongoing legal dispute. According to court documents obtained by BlkCosmo, Nicki is resisting the request.
Brandon Garrett, Nicki Minaj‘s former employee, has requested all text communications between the rapper and third parties regarding him and his employment spanning January through April 2024. He’s also seeking messages related to an alleged backstage assault he claims occurred at one of her concerts in April.

The rapper has pushes back hard in court filings. Nicki claims she doesn’t possess any messages about the alleged incident and contends that some of Garrett’s other requests are overly broad. She’s refused to turn over the requested materials.
Garrett sued Nicki in 2025, alleging battery. According to the complaint, he worked for her in 2024, but the relationship soured quickly. He says the confrontation erupted backstage at one of her Detroit shows.
In his account of the incident, Garrett claims he was called into the dressing room where Nicki was visibly upset. He says she told him, “Are you f***ing crazy having him pick up my prescription? You have lost your f***ing mind and if my husband were here, he would knock out your f***ing teeth.”
According to Garrett’s filing, the exchange escalated. He claims Nicki continued: “You’re a dead man walking. You just f***ed up your whole life and you will never be anyone; I’ll make sure of it.”
Garrett alleges that Nicki struck him in the face, resulting in physical injuries and emotional distress. Her former legal team has denied the accusations outright, calling them “false and frivolous.”
Beyond this courtroom drama, Nicki has kept a steady public profile, making appearances on behalf of President Trump.
