The settlement amount in Nicki Minaj‘s mother’s wrongful death lawsuit over her late husband has been made public through court documents.
According to paperwork obtained by BlkCosmo, Carol Maraj agreed to settle with Charles Polevich, the driver who struck and killed her husband Robert Maraj in February 2021. The incident happened while Robert was walking in a crosswalk in New York.

The total settlement comes to $400,000. Polevich will pay $300,000, with an additional $100,000 coming from his insurance company. After legal fees of approximately $133,000 and reimbursements totaling $9,800, the estate will retain roughly $234,000.
Carol’s civil lawsuit centered on her claim for loss of companionship following her husband’s death. Nicki Minaj‘s father’s case had already drawn significant attention, and the family faced additional complications when Polevich’s legal team attempted to depose the rapper herself.

In his criminal case, Polevich received a one-year jail sentence for Robert’s death. The civil settlement now puts that chapter closer to closure for the family.
During discovery, Polevich’s attorneys had sought to question Nicki about personal details from her life, citing lyrics that touched on difficult aspects of her childhood. The strategy raised eyebrows but ultimately didn’t play out in full litigation.
The settlement resolves the matter before deeper depositions could take place, sparing the rapper from further involvement in the civil proceedings.
