Soulja Boy Arrested: What We Know

Soulja Boy is back in the headlines — and not for a comeback track. The rapper, born DeAndre Cortez Way, was arrested early Sunday morning in Los Angeles on suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. near his Melrose Avenue store, when LAPD pulled over a vehicle he was riding in. A firearm was found inside, and Soulja was booked at LAPD’s Wilshire Division.

This comes on the heels of serious legal troubles. In April, he was found liable for sexual assault and battery in a civil suit filed by a former assistant. A jury ordered him to pay over $4 million in damages.

Black Cosmopolitans, the rapper who once told the world to “Crank That” is now facing the weight of compounding controversies. As of now, no word from his team — and no updates on his release.
