Stephen A. Smith called out Laura Loomer for her racist comments about Black women in politics. He didn’t hold back, asking the conservative activist, “How dare you speak about them that way?” This moment highlights why we need to talk about racism in politics and how public figures handle these conversations.
Smith addressed Loomer after playing audio where she used a slur while discussing several Black women, including Rep. Ilhan Omar, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, former Rep. Cori Bush, and Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. During her rant, Loomer referred to them as “ghetto Black b–ches,” and Smith made it clear she crossed a line. The issue of racism in politics demands better from all of us.
“I don’t agree with Democrats all the time,” Smith said. “I don’t agree with everything they do. I don’t agree with everything that they say. But how dare you speak about them that way?”
“Why would you do something like that? Why is that necessary?” he continued, later adding, “How about being decent? How about talking about the issue?”
He then turned his attention to President Donald Trump, questioning whether he was comfortable with Loomer’s language given her close ties to him.

“You cool with her talking about the sisters like that?” Smith asked.
“Can we stop that, please?” he added. “And just touch on the issues.”
