Every year, college rankings get people talking about who made the list and who got snubbed. But some HBCUs are quietly excelling without the same national buzz. As students return to campuses this fall, these hidden gems around the country are making history and supporting Black students in full. From one-of-a-kind academic programs to rising enrollment and investments in the future of Black success, these HBCUs deserve some love too.

Our students are not running from. Our students are running toward. They are running toward Historically Black Colleges and Universities to belong before defending their belonging in the larger world becomes a daily test. That is the story of HBCU enrollment surging, and it's a story that deserves to be told without a foil. They are not settling for us; they are selecting us.

Marvel's Black fanbase is calling out the cinematic universe for its alleged maltreatment of Black-led projects. Wonder Man was recently canceled despite lead actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II receiving an Emmy nomination and a second season being in development. The Blade remake starring Mahershala Ali was also scrapped after years of delays. This cancellation joins a troubling pattern including the discontinuation of Luke Cage, Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur, Armor Wars, and Secret Invasion, alongside concerns about the sidelining of Black characters like Monica Rambeau and the new Captain America direction.

Companies with seemingly unlimited cash flow like Meta, Microsoft and Google are racing to supply skyrocketing demand for AI data centers. Their unprecedented new method? Hiring electricians, carpenters and blue-collar trade workers by the thousands to build their massive AI supercomputer sites with hundreds of millions in training funds. Beyond the eye-watering paychecks, the real story lies in what this could mean for closing the Black racial wealth gap.

After almost 30 years, a new iteration of "The Thomas Crown Affair" will be making its way to audiences soon, and it's all thanks to Oscar-winning actor Michael B. Jordan. Jordan will star in the titular role in a fresh take on the classic, marking the first time the iconic role will be played by a Black man.

David Jonsson will take on the role of T'Challa's son in Black Panther 3, introducing another Black British powerhouse to Hollywood. Black British talent has steadily dominated the industry, from Chiwetel Ejiofor leading horror films to Aaron Pierre becoming the face of DC's Lanterns. Other notable Black British actors making waves include Naomi Ackie, Tosin Cole, and Cynthia Erivo, who earned an Oscar nomination for Wicked. Veterans like Idris Elba, Daniel Kaluuya, and Lashana Lynch continue commanding major roles across franchises. Emerging stars like Damson Idris and Regé-Jean Page are solidifying their status as leading men in Hollywood.
