Amerie divorce details are making waves after court documents revealed shocking financial revelations and serious accusations from both sides. The “1 Thing” singer’s split from her ex-husband Lenny Nicholson has been officially finalized, and the specifics are drawing major attention in entertainment circles.
According to the divorce judgment, the former couple ended their marriage after separating in April 2024 following more than a decade together. Amerie described the marriage as “irretrievably broken.” You can find more on Amerie divorce coverage across major outlets.
The R&B icon was awarded primary physical custody of their son, while Nicholson received visitation every third weekend. The court ordered him to pay $2,298 per month in child support. Amerie walked away with ownership of her businesses including Amerie Inc., Cer One Touring and Mi Suk Publishing, along with a 2016 Range Rover.
The judge also ordered Nicholson to return Amerie’s music tracks and an external hard drive containing production files that were still in his possession. But things got messier when Nicholson accused Amerie of abandoning him while he recovered from surgery in 2024.
He claimed he covered over $44,000 in rent and expenses after the separation, while also accusing the singer of taking luxury vacations and spending thousands on cosmetic procedures. It’s the kind of financial detail that speaks to deeper tensions in their split.
Nicholson argued he spent more than 20 years acting as Amerie’s manager, performance director and business strategist, claiming he never received full compensation for his work. In his filing, he requested $1.75 million in alleged unpaid commissions along with additional damages for emotional distress and spousal support.
However, the final judgment listed Amerie’s estimated monthly income at $5,735 while Nicholson’s monthly income was listed at $10,000. Fans online were shocked by the reported numbers, especially given Amerie’s long-standing music career and influence in R&B culture.
Amerie first publicly confirmed the split during an interview in 2025, and the court documents continue to reveal just how complicated their personal and professional relationship had become.
