Child support arrest has landed actor Faizon Love behind bars in Florida after months of telling a court he couldn’t pay the $250,000 he allegedly owed.

The 58-year-old Elf star was arrested on Tuesday night in Hillsborough County on two counts of contempt of court and is being held without bond at Orient Road Jail in Tampa. This situation connects to broader conversations around child support arrest issues affecting many families.

Love had argued earlier this year that he was unable to come up with the money allegedly owed to Tiffany Lee, TMZ reported. In court documents, the comedian said he had not earned any income in the last year and that his highest gross income over the past five years was $13,000.

He also said a medical emergency kept him from attending an April hearing in the case, according to the outlet. Love had been ordered to turn himself in for 90 days in jail at the time.

Love, who lives in Glendale, California, is best known to many fans for playing the Gimbels manager opposite Will Ferrell in Elf. He also appeared in Couples Retreat. His latest arrest comes as he faces other legal issues. Love was accused in February 2025 of felony assault after a hotel clerk said he threw a credit card machine at her head during an alleged August 2024 altercation.

Love also pleaded no contest in 2017 to a misdemeanor after being caught on camera assaulting a valet at John Glenn Columbus International Airport in Ohio.

He has not publicly addressed his latest arrest.
