Kevin Gates isn’t sweating the seven-figure payout he was ordered to give his estranged wife. In fact, he says it’s just business as usual for someone who gives generously to the people he cares about. The rapper made the comments during an appearance on “The BlkCosmo Podcast,” where host Towanda brought up the court order requiring him to split proceeds from his music catalogue sale with Dreka Gates to the tune of $1 million.
Gates brushed off the payment as a non-issue. He explained that giving to those close to him is simply part of who he is, and this settlement was no exception. He left little doubt that he’d been generous with Dreka throughout their relationship. When Towanda pressed him on whether he felt any anger about it, Gates said he doesn’t carry resentment about anything. He pivoted into a more philosophical stance, discussing how cosmic intervention plays a role in relationships that are meant to last. Gates also addressed the ongoing social media chatter about his relationship status. He made it clear he prefers to keep those details private and isn’t interested in broadcasting personal matters to the world. The breakdown of the settlement is substantial. Kevin Gates was ordered to pay Dreka $929,341.50 for child and spousal support, plus another $150,000 directly to her. On top of that, Dreka’s legal team receives $125,000 in attorney fees, her accountant gets $100,000, and $103,000 goes toward third-party mediation services. The split hasn’t been amicable throughout. Gates previously claimed Dreka stole from him repeatedly during their relationship, though her legal team flatly denied those allegations. Behind the serene public stance, their separation has been contentious. For now, Gates is moving forward with a lighter bank account but seemingly lighter emotional baggage as well.
