Los Angeles Mayor Race just got spicier. Lisa Rinna is not here for Spencer Pratt’s political ambitions, and she said it out loud at the American Music Awards.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum was asked about the city’s race while attending the AMAs on Monday, May 25. After pausing over the question, Rinna, 62, kept it real. “That is a good question,” she told Variety. When the reporter mentioned Pratt, she carefully responded, “I am gonna say I don’t know yet. Not a reality star, though. I’m sorry. I love him, but we’ve already done that, we’re not going to do that again.” She understood the assignment—and the assignment was Los Angeles Mayor Race is too serious for the entertainment crowd.
Rinna also acknowledged that Pratt does have some support behind him. “He could be, I mean … he’s got power behind him, it seems, but I don’t know,” she said. But her stance remained firm. The actress, who spent years on reality television herself, said that was exactly why she understood the concern. “Listen, I’m a reality person,” Rinna said. “You wouldn’t want me as mayor, really.”
Pratt, 42, entered the race as an independent after his Pacific Palisades home was destroyed in the wildfire. Since then, he has criticized Mayor Karen Bass and Councilwoman Nithya Raman, released campaign videos from the site of his former home, and raised more than $539,000 since January, topping Bass’ reported haul during the same period.
Look, the Hills star has been known to make bold moves—that’s been part of his brand. But running a major city? That’s a whole different energy. Rinna’s take represents what many are feeling: we need proven leadership and policy experience, not just celebrity status and a platform. The stakes are too high for Los Angeles right now.
