Beyoncé is back in headlines, but this time it is not about a performance or a chart moment. The man accused of stealing unreleased music and sensitive tour materials connected to the superstar is officially headed to trial after reportedly turning down a plea deal.
According to court updates, Kelvin Evans will face both felony and misdemeanor charges tied to a 2025 break-in that allegedly targeted members of Beyoncé’s touring team during her Cowboy Carter stop in Atlanta. Prosecutors say his criminal history could lead to a sentence of up to six years behind bars if he is convicted.
The case centers on a July 2025 incident inside a parking garage near Krog Street, where two suitcases were reportedly stolen from a parked Jeep Wagoneer used by members of the singer’s creative team. Investigators say the rear window had been smashed, pointing to a forced entry inside what should have been a secured area.
Inside the stolen luggage were reportedly flash drives containing unreleased and watermarked music, along with tour set lists, production plans, laptops, and personal electronics. Authorities say some of those missing digital materials still have not been recovered, which adds even more weight to the case.
The items reportedly belonged to members of the production team, including a choreographer and a dancer working on the Cowboy Carter tour. Surveillance footage allegedly linked the theft to a 2025 Hyundai Elantra with Georgia plates, while witness statements reportedly placed Evans near the scene handling several black bags taken from the vehicle.
Investigators also claim Evans was later seen leaving the area on a bicycle after the stolen property had been transferred.
Evans was eventually arrested in September 2025 in Hapeville on a parole violation before later being charged in connection to the break-in. Court records reportedly show a long criminal history stretching back more than two decades, including convictions involving robbery, assault, and vehicle theft.
Now, with jury selection expected to begin next week, the case is entering a major new chapter. Fans are still asking the big question: will that unreleased music ever fully resurface, or is some of it gone for good?
