Celeste Rivas Hernandez's parents are asking prosecutors to pursue the harshest possible punishment against D4vd if he is convicted in their daughter's killing. The singer, whose legal name is David Burke, has been charged in connection with Celeste's death after her remains were discovered inside a Tesla registered to him at a Hollywood tow yard in September 2025.

Rapper Cartel Bo, born Warren Brown, is accused of kidnapping and confining the mother of his children inside a closet at a Cypress, Texas residence for days in July. She escaped wearing only underwear and handcuffs before flagging down a neighbor.

The Legal Defense Fund is asking Congress to investigate a troubling pattern of deaths of Black people whose families and communities say deserve more scrutiny. In an August 24 letter to congressional leaders, the LDF called for creation of a congressional commission to investigate suspicious deaths across the country, improve federal data collection and make findings available to the public. The request comes as several recent cases have raised questions about whether local authorities are adequately investigating deaths quickly classified as suicides, accidents or undetermined causes.

For nearly four years, Keshia Golden maintained she was not a murderer but a pregnant woman trying to survive an attack by an abusive partner. On Monday, Golden pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the 2022 stabbing death of her boyfriend, Calvin Sidney. The plea deal brings her case to an end without the first-degree murder conviction prosecutors were seeking. Golden was eight months pregnant when Sidney was fatally stabbed after their baby shower in October 2022. Her attorneys said Sidney attacked her, slamming her head against a counter, and she grabbed a knife to protect herself and her unborn child. Police had responded to more than fifty domestic violence calls from the couple's address.

During the first day of Duane Keefe D Davis' trial for allegedly murdering Tupac, former Las Vegas Metro Police Department Officer Garry Dale took the stand. Dale was in the ambulance with Tupac after he was shot on September 7, 1996, and said he asked Tupac multiple times who shot him, but the rapper kept his mouth shut and only responded by saying he and his crew would take care of it.

To others, including the family of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner and many in law enforcement, he is a convicted cop killer whose conviction has withstood decades of appeals. The debate has never truly ended. Now, Abu-Jamal's legal team has taken his fight beyond U.S. courts, petitioning the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention to weigh in on his incarceration.
