The first witness was Fabian “Big Country” Ford’s sister, who previously drove Durk. She testified that Ford also worked as a security guard and regularly carried a gun while transporting the rapper. That testimony gave jurors another reason Ford may have been armed—a detail that could shift how they view the evidence.
Next came Kevin Freeman, who worked with Durk through the rapper’s Neighborhood Heroes organization. “I’m the one that told Durk to lay low,” Freeman testified, claiming that the warning was about keeping Durk away from his children in case police arrived. “I didn’t want the kids to be traumatized,” said Freeman.
