Tay Keith died from the toxic effects of drugs including ketamine and an active ingredient in kratom. According to the Nashville Medical Examiner's Office, Keith had ketamine and mitragynine in his system when he died. Mitragynine is a chemical compound found in kratom, a tree from Southeast Asia that affects the brain's opioid receptors.

Music producer Tay Keith left behind a massive estate including a car collection and a home in Tennessee. Court docs reveal his family member was appointed administrator of his estate. The estate includes substantial assets, bank accounts, a Mercedes-Maybach and Lambo, 50% interest in a Memphis home, interest in Shadow Tequila, a 50% interest in an engineering studio, music publishing interests, his music catalog, trademark and royalties.

Sexyy Red wrote an emotional letter to the judge in late music producer Tay Keith's lawsuit over unpaid music royalties. She disputes the claims and says she was appalled by the allegations. Sexyy explained she is an artist not allowed to pay producers, as that is handled by the record label. She stated Tay Keith and she are great working partners and friends, and if the label owes him money, they have started the process to get him paid.

Tay Keith's girlfriend was panicking about the music producer's health before learning he was dead, so much so she dialed 911 to get a wellness check. In dispatch audio obtained, she expressed concern after he asked her to visit but then went radio silent. After 24 hours without contact, she called 911. The dispatcher asked about known health issues, and she responded that he had breathing complications and high blood pressure. She explained she knocked on his door and called multiple times without hearing back. Tay was found dead Thursday in his Nashville apartment. Cops say foul play isn't suspected. He was 29 years old.

Music producer Tay Keith had yet to resolve his legal battle with Sexyy Red over royalties he claimed he was owed at the time of his death. According to court docs, Tay sued Sexyy back in March 2026, claiming he produced 13 songs for her in 2024, including Pound Town. Tay claimed Sexyy's song made millions from sales and streaming but he says he never got paid for his services.

Tay Keith, the Grammy-nominated producer best known for crafting some of hip hop's biggest hits, including Travis Scott's 2018 single "Sicko Mode," is dead. Tay was found dead Thursday in his Nashville apartment, according to Metro Nashville Police. The cause of death is unclear. Cops say foul play is NOT suspected.
