Trey Songz Sues Kansas City Police Over Chiefs Game Arrest

Trey Songz is taking legal action years after a headline-making arrest — and now he’s putting the Kansas City Police Department on blast.

According to a lawsuit obtained by TMZ, the R&B star is suing the KCPD over an incident that went down during the AFC Championship Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills back in January 2021 at Arrowhead Stadium.

Trey claims he was simply sitting in his assigned seat when nearby fans began heckling him because of his celebrity status. What started as verbal taunts allegedly escalated into threats and harassment, prompting stadium security and police to respond to the scene. Video of the encounter later surfaced and quickly went viral.

However, Trey says instead of protecting him from what he describes as “unruly, aggressive, and intoxicated” fans, security and police turned on him. In the lawsuit, he alleges officers physically assaulted him, used excessive force, and wrongfully arrested, handcuffed, and detained him.

Following the incident, Trey was hit with charges including trespassing, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer — but all charges were eventually dismissed.

Now, the singer says the arrest caused lasting damage, including physical injuries, emotional distress, harm to his professional reputation, and financial losses. He argues that the Kansas City Police Department violated his rights and escalated a situation that never should have resulted in an arrest.

Trey is seeking unspecified damages in the lawsuit. As of now, the KCPD has not responded publicly to the legal filing.
