Hold up, because August Alsina and his boo, Zu, had the internet buzzing this past weekend. Seems like folks were doing a deep dive into their relationship history. It all kicked off when they hosted a Pride event at Opium in Atlanta, and some X users started throwing shade, accusing August of being with Zu before he was even legal.
One tweet even claimed, “August Alsina a weirdo. August and Zu been together for 5 years and Zu is 22 years old and graduated in 2022.”
Zu wasn’t having it, though. He hopped online to set the record straight. In a heartfelt post, he said:
“Hope this clears up any confusion. … I met August when I was already of age, an adult. Aug didn’t even know me when I was 16 or 17… yea there’s a slight age difference but y’all pick and choose who to judge when it comes to that. We will have known each other for 5 years toward the end of the year, so he’s speaking in future terms… August is my boyfriend, and we’re happy with each other, simple.”
Zu went on to emphasize that their love is the real deal, writing: “What y’all don’t know is, I run this relationship. I call the shots, August just shows up and supports me in whatever I want to do. He supports my dream, he IS a dream! Nothing is ever forced on either end.”
August, being the supportive partner he is, chimed in with a playful response, backing Zu up and letting everyone know the rumors ain’t shaking their foundation.
So, despite the internet trying to stir up drama, Zu and August are making it crystal clear: they’re grown, they’re in love, and they’re not sweating the haters. Real talk!
