The BET Awards are coming back to Los Angeles in a few days, and you know what that means: red carpet chaos, phenomenal performances, and enough fashion moments to fuel conversations all summer long. The good, the bad, and the absolutely bewildering all converge on one night.
While the glittering looks will dominate the highlight reels, there’s always a fair share of catastrophes waiting to happen. We decided to dig through the archives and revisit some of the most unfortunate red carpet decisions in BET Awards history. From poorly executed tailoring to denim disasters, here are the looks that absolutely missed the mark.
Pink Pantheress, BET Awards 2023

Denim boots paired with leopard print at a formal awards show? That’s a choice we’re still trying to understand.
Young Dro, BET Awards 2024

Young Dro’s got bars, sure, but someone needs to have a real conversation with his styling team about this one. This wasn’t it.
Cam Newton, BET Awards 2025

Cam Newton regularly tests fashion boundaries, but this was doing way too much. Even by his standards, this was a stretch.
Eve, BET Awards 2001

The denim trend at the BET Awards has got to stop. Eve’s evolved into a style icon since then, which honestly makes us forget this look ever happened.
Nicki Minaj, BET Awards 2011

This is what happens when nobody in your orbit is brave enough to tell you the truth. Nicki’s 2011 BET Awards look is proof that the 2010s had us all in a creative stranglehold when it came to fashion.
Remy Ma, BET Awards 2005

The body was incredible, no question. But this dress looked like someone literally just draped fabric onto her without any actual construction. Even a tuxedo blazer would’ve been better.
Kash Doll, BET Awards 2025

Kash Doll usually brings the energy with her style choices, but this ill-fitting dress and the hair situation didn’t do her any favors.
Soulja Boy, BET Awards 2008

There’s a difference between flexing your favorite designer and letting the logo completely take over your entire outfit. Soulja Boy should’ve called for a second opinion before walking out in this one.
Amin Joseph, BET Awards 2023

What the hell was going on with this jacket? Just no. No to all of it.
Lil’ Mama, BET Awards 2008

This outfit would’ve been perfect if she were headed to a Strawberry Shortcake convention. Since she wasn’t, we’re still scratching our heads about where her styling team’s heads were at.
Alicia Keys, BET Awards 2008

This looks like something someone would throw together for a night out at the club, not an awards show red carpet. It’s giving pre-loved fast fashion energy, the kind of ensemble you’d find at a discount outlet. For someone of Keys’ caliber, we expected better judgment.
Drew Sidora, BET Awards 2025

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star was clearly going for fairy tale fantasy, but this dress just didn’t land. Better luck next time.
Jess Hilarious, BET Awards 2023

No comment needed.
Eva Marcille, BET Awards 2023

Eva, even divas need to have standards. Whatever this was, it wasn’t it.
