Looks like Nelly just dodged a bigger legal headache.
The St. Louis rapper is no longer facing an assault charge stemming from a 2025 incident at Ameristar Casino. According to court documents, both sides reached a plea deal that drops the assault allegation entirely. Check out more on Nelly to stay updated on his story.
Instead, Nelly copped to a much lighter misdemeanor—littering. The charge comes from trash he allegedly tossed during the situation, and he agreed to pay a $750 fine. The judge has already signed off, officially closing the case.
The drama originally popped off back on July 14, 2025, when a casino security guard claimed Nelly shoved him after being asked to show a player’s card before entering a restricted area. The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene, and the rapper was later hit with a misdemeanor assault charge that September.
But Nelly has maintained his innocence from day one.
His team previously pushed back hard, saying the guard was being “overzealous” and got too close, forcing Nelly to simply guide him out the way with minimal contact. They also claimed casino management later apologized and welcomed him back.
With the assault charge now gone, it looks like Nelly is walking away with a minor fine instead of a major case.
