Real Housewives of Potomac star Wendy Osefo is headed to court. Her joint fraud trial with husband Eddie Osefo has been scheduled for January 25-29, 2027, according to The Baltimore Banner. Both are facing multiple counts of insurance fraud and conspiracy charges.
This case has everyone talking. The Real Housewives of Potomac couple allegedly orchestrated a scheme involving designer handbags, jewelry, and other luxury items—claiming a break-in at their Maryland home that never happened the way they described it.
Wendy and Eddie Osefo lied about break-in at their home, prosecutors say
Police arrested the Osefos last October after investigators uncovered evidence that they fabricated details about an alleged April 2024 break-in. The couple claimed thieves stole $400,000 in handbags, jewelry, and other items, then submitted claims to multiple insurance companies. But here’s where it gets messy—investigators found many of the supposedly stolen items were either still in their possession or had been returned to stores before the supposed burglary. They also discovered emails showing the couple strategizing to maximize their claimed losses.
Prosecutors argue that the Bravo stars were financially stretched thin and living beyond their means, which motivated the scheme. Wendy previously worked as a visiting assistant professor at Wesleyan University before resigning following her arrest. Eddie is an entrepreneur running a cannabis business called Happy Eddie.
Wendy continuing to film for RHOP Season 11
Despite everything, Wendy has kept filming for the upcoming 11th season of RHOP. Bravo’s cameras were there on Wednesday capturing the couple’s arrival and departure from Carroll County Circuit Court during a status conference that locked in trial dates.
Season 10 wrapped before the arrests happened. But producers caught back up with them in the days after they were taken into custody and held overnight in jail.
“I feel like I’m in a constant, like, nightmare,” Wendy told Eddie in footage from the RHOP Season 10 reunion. “The house doesn’t even feel the same. And I have to eat, but I’m not hungry. And, like, I just have no desire, no appetite, no nothin’.”
“Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would lead to us being taken away in handcuffs,” Wendy added. “It’s so crazy. It feels like a bad dream. … I was so scared.”
The couple also opened up about concerns the trial could damage their marriage.
“I just know after this incident, I’m not the same person,” she said. “And I hope that’ll be OK with you, because I’m not the same. I don’t think I’ll ever be the same.”
The Real Housewives of Potomac is streaming on Peacock.
